Talent On Stage

This year at TransformUs, we will have 2 stages. The original stage and the new stage that we have helped build with SmileFest for Deerfields.

If you are interested in performing at Transformus 2006 please contact our stage leads:

Ministry of Stage Please read this letter from WordPlay to a band that had inquired about stage time during the event last year - Its a good explanation about comps....

....you guys are interested in playing at the TransformUs 05 Festival in July at Deerfields. I wanted to confirm that you still are interested in some stage time, and to explain a little about the Burning Man tenet about a non commercial event. Currently, we offer no compensation to artists for performing, in fact, there are no comps - all artists gift their talents to the community we create together on the mountain at Deerfields. There is no vending at TransformUs - CDs, T shirts, etc. may be given as a gift, but not sold or used to barter. As far as advertising your participation at the event, you may give out the TransformUs Web site, so if your fans are interested in participating in the TransformUs experience, they can get information and tickets through the site. However, it is important to note that TransformUs is more than just music.it is a participatory experience in radical self expression and community building! If someone buys a ticket with an expectation of being entertained by others, they are not really participating. Yes, there will be structure and a schedule we will try to maintain, but these will only be guidelines, and oftentimes structure inhibits the creative process. Fans waiting at the front of the stage, shouting "we want 'insert band name here', we want ." expect a performer to come onstage at a certain time to start a show for them and are not participants, they are an audience.

We have capped this event at 1200 participants. If *Your Band Here* is interested in buying tickets and participating in the weekend at TransformUs 05, we welcome you with open arms. We will have space on the community forum soon to sign up to play. I just wanted to let you know about the non-commercial aspect of Burning Man sanctioned events."
