Transformus, the Southeast Regional Burn, is a place to share radical self-expression and artistic creativity with one another each summer. While currency is removed from the event itself, the reality remains that it takes cash to make art happen. Transformus LLC realizes this and helps seed the event with artistic expression through the fair distribution of Creativity Grants.
So you have an idea for a creativity project that would benefit the Mysteria community? Need some financial assistance making your dream a reality? We're here to help!
Here's how our 2007 granting process works: We'll receive applications from today through Wednesday December 6, 2006 at Noon EST. All forms of creativity may apply. Applications will be blinded and forwarded to our jury, who will then score them based on provided criteria using a preformatted spreadsheet. Anyone may participate in our jury except those managing this year's grant program and those individuals applying for grants. On Wednesday, December 13th our jury will convene via private conference call and decide on the final dollar amounts each grant winner will receive. Checks will be written shortly thereafter by Transformus' treasurer, with all monies fully distributed prior to December 31, 2006. Accompanying each distribution check will be an invoice each recipient must sign and return to Transformus LLC promising said services.
Please remember that we can fund only a portion of those who apply, and each individual Creativity Grant will be limited to $500 maximum distributions. We do not fund individual Theme Camps, but will consider funding creativity placed within Theme Camp areas. We also do not fund artists' time, labor, or transportation costs, but will consider funding raw materials and material transportation costs (outside of artists' existing travel expenses).
The criteria our jury will be using to judge the applications are based on concepts such as: a) will this project involve and inspire a broad spectrum of the Mysteria community throughout its various phases? b) does this project fall in line with our Leave No Trace ethics and will it work well within the pristine Deerfields venue we call home? c) do the artists' ideas seem realistic and well thought-out enough for a volunteer crew to fully realize? and d) does the jury like the ideas presented?
We encourage freedom of expression in how you present your creativity, but each creativity grant application must be submitted electronically and contain the following information:
Optional but suggested: detailed drawings, CAD files, sketches, or other graphic illustrations of your creative concept. Please forward any questions and your completed grant applications to art(at)transformus(dot)com . We invite you to share your creativity with the Transformus family!
